With the anticipated opening of three additional businesses, we expect that activity to increase even more.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">For several years, too many buildings along this important downtown corridor sat vacant. Downtowns are important because they are the public face of a community and play a major role in shaping its identity. <strong>Main Street is the front door to our city.</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Welcoming tourists and regional visitors to a vibrant, active Main Street will serve New Roads well for years to come. Increased traffic and the desire for additional parking are not problems&mdash;they are <strong>blessings</strong>. They are signs that people want to be downtown, and we are already exploring ideas to increase available parking and accommodate this welcomed growth.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd"><strong>The buzz being heard downtown is the sound of progress!</strong></p> <h1><strong><span style="font-size: 24px;">Scott Civic Center Improvement Update</span></strong></h1> <p class="isSelectedEnd">We are excited to announce that installation of the new flooring at the <strong>Scott Civic Center has been completed</strong>. The new flooring has enhanced the appearance of the Civic Center while providing an improved venue for community events, meetings, celebrations, and activities for years to come.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Our work does not stop there. Next, we will wash the exterior of the building and paint the porch and columns. We will also add exterior lighting and landscaping to further enhance the facility.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">This project is part of our continued commitment to investing in our public facilities and ensuring they remain attractive, functional, and welcoming to residents and visitors alike. We appreciate everyone's patience during this improvement process and look forward to unveiling the next update soon.</p> <h1><span style="font-size: 24px;"><strong>Blight Removal Grant</strong></span></h1> <p class="isSelectedEnd">The City of New Roads is applying for a grant to assist with the removal of blighted properties throughout our city. If awarded, the grant will allow eligible property owners to have blighted structures removed <strong>at no cost to them while retaining ownership of the property.</strong></p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">Property owners who have a blighted structure and wish to participate in the blight removal program are encouraged to contact the City of New Roads to sign up and learn more about the program.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">These efforts are part of our continued commitment to improving the appearance of our community, strengthening our neighborhoods, and enhancing the quality of life for our residents.</p> <p class="isSelectedEnd">We will continue moving forward with projects that invest in New Roads and position our community for a stronger future.
