The City of New Roads will present its popular three-day spring shopping extravaganza event, Market at the Mill, on April 13-15 at the historic cotton mill located three blocks north of Main Street, at 311 Mill Street in New Roads.

The 7th annual event will include a variety of local vendors, craftsmen and artisans selling antiques, fine gifts and hand-crafted items, such as pottery, ceramics, glassware, wood and metal works and art.  Architectural pieces, collectibles, clothing for the whole family and country furniture also will be on display.

The Market at the Mill is housed in the 38,000-square-foot cotton seed oil mill that has stood as a cultural icon for the City of New Roads for many years.  The wide open floor plan makes it the perfect venue for many events; particularly, the annual springtime shopping extravaganza.

Children can participate in art classes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15, where they will be instructed in painting Mother’s Day cards.

“Our Market at the Mill event has become a much-anticipated and much-celebrated outing for shoppers from across the region,” City of New Roads Mayor Anthony Daisy said.  “This year’s event promises to live up to the high expectations our shopping guests have come to expect.”

Admission for the event is $5 and it is good for all 3 days. Hours are Friday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 14, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, April 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The city is currently accepting preregistration for the art classes and advance ticket purchases.  A limited number of vendor spaces is also available.
