New Roads, La. – New Roads Mayor Anthony Daisy has announced the 2018 Community Impact Awards Banquet, which was scheduled for tomorrow (Jan. 18) at the Scott Civic Center, has been postponed because of the hazardous wintry weather conditions in the area.

The banquet will be held Jan. 25 at the Scott Civic Center.  Times remain the same:  the cocktail hour will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., with dinner and the awards program following at 6 p.m.

“The current weather conditions of freezing rain and ice have created dangerous road conditions for our area.  We feel it is in the best interest for the safety and well-being of our winners, their friends and family, and all our city residents that the banquet be postponed to allow for better conditions,” Mayor Anthony Daisy said.  “We encourage all our residents to seek safe, warm shelter and avoid any unnecessary travel during this time.

Those community members who will be recognized at this year’s banquet include Pap n Pris Florist and Gifts , Leon Dixon, Madeline Franklin, Charlie Harris, Jr., and Melissa Hymel.

Tickets for the event are $35 per person or $280 for a table of eight, and they can be purchased at New Roads Information Center, across from City Hall.  No tickets will be sold at the door.
